Deal Appoints Seven to Boards

Governor fills slots for Medicine, Arts, Motor Vehicles, Auctions John S. Antalis, M.D., Georgia Composite Medical Board Dr. Antalis has practiced as a family physician at Dalton Family Practice for nearly 25 years and has served on the Whitfield County Board of Health since 1992. Antalis also served as president of both the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians and the Medical Association of Georgia and was named Georgia Family Physician of the Year in 1995. The author of several journal articles, Antalis earned his bachelor's degree from Wofford College and medical degree from Saint Georges University. He and his wife, Cathy, have three children. Barbara Lynn Howell, Capitol Arts Standards Commission,
Chairwoman Barbara Lynn Howell, of Savannah, is the executive director
of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. She previously
worked as vice president of sales and design for a furniture
manufacturer, as well as in residential construction. Howell
also handled government affairs for several of Georgia’s largest
construction projects. Most recently, she led design work
transforming neglected Federalist mansions into Presidents’
Quarters, an award-winning boutique hotel. She earned a
bachelor’s and law degree from Emory University. Stephan L. Penley, Capitol Arts Standards Commission Stephan Penley’s artwork has appeared in galleries in Atlanta, New York, Washington, D.C., and in public and private collections throughout the United States and Europe. A graduate of the University of Georgia and the School of Visual Arts in New York, Penley has authored and illustrated several books. He received the 2002 Georgia Author of the Year Award for his first book, Penley. He lives with his family in Carrollton. Ansley Saville, Capitol Arts Standards Commission Saville is vice president of marketing and public relations
for Coosa Steel, Inc. She is the chairman of the American
Indians Committee for the Xavier chapter of the Daughters of the
American Revolution. Saville also served as president of
Chieftains Museum and as chairman of the Governmental Affairs
Committee for the Rome Chamber of Commerce. Saville earned a
bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. In 2006, she
was honored with the Heart of the Community Award in Rome, where
she lives with her family. Jerruld Lewis Page, Jr., State Board of Registration of Used
Car Dealers and Used Motor Vehicle Parts Dealers Upon graduating high school, Page worked with his father for
more than a decade in their family business, Page Brothers
Automotive. In 2001, Page opened Lewis Page Auto Brokers. He
currently works for an auto dealership. He and his wife,
Michelle, live in Gainesville with their three children, Jerry,
Brannon and Havolynne. Larry “Bo” Benton, Jr., Auctioneers Commission Benton is a third generation auctioneer, taking control of
his family’s business in 2003. He is an Accredited Auctioneer of
Real Estate and a Certified Estate Specialist. Benton will also
earn his membership to the Certified Auctioneers Institute this
year. He was named the Georgia Auctioneers Association Bid
Calling Champion in 2008 and 2011 and served as president of the
Georgia Auctioneers Association. Benton is a member of the
National Auctioneers Association, the Georgia Association of
Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. He earned a
degree in agricultural economics from the University of Georgia.
He and his wife, Jenni, live in Macon with their two children. Roy Dean Cates, Sr., Auctioneers Commission Cates, a reappointment, has served for the past seven years on the Auctioneers Commission. He is also a Baptist minister, serving at Fishing Creek Baptist Church. Cates has nearly four decades of experience in auctioneering, including estate, antique and livestock. He is a U.S. Army veteran and graduate of the North Georgia School of Auctioneering. He and his wife, Loretta, live in Tignall. They have two children, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. |
