Georgia Republican Party Shines Spotlight on Agriculture With State Leaders
|
2/8/11 The Georgia Republican Foundation, Chairman Sue P. Everhart and Foundation Chairman Chip Pearson hosted a breakfast featuring a panel discussion on the current state of Georgia's agriculture industry. Panelists included Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black; state Senator John Bulloch, Chairman of the Senate Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee; state Representative Tom McCall, Chairman of the House Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee; and former state Representative and 2nd District Congressional candidate, Mike Keown. The panelists discussed a wide range of agriculture-related topics including current issues facing Georgia's agriculture producers, pending immigration legislation, Georgia agriculture markets and the effect of government regulation on the industry as a whole. The panel also answered audience questions regarding the Georgia Department of Agriculture's Market Bulletin, the federal Farm Bill and farm subsidies. “Georgians are keenly aware of the challenges in our economy, including agriculture, which is our largest industry,” said Pearson. “The Georgia Republican Party was pleased to bring together our agricultural leaders in a format that engaged our Foundation members.” The Georgia Republican Foundation consists of major donors to the Party. Members are invited to numerous Foundation Breakfasts and Georgia Republican Party events throughout the year.
