Wayne Mosley (R) Candidate for 12th District Congress

About Wayne

Col. Wayne Mosley, M.D.

Born in Clarkesville, Tennessee, October 3, 1960, Wayne Mosley grew up in a small farming community. Raised by his grandfather who was a sharecropper, he learned from an early age about the rewards of hard work. As a young man, Wayne worked various agricultural jobs in his community including milking, feeding livestock, picking up hay, cutting tobacco, planting, cultivating and harvesting corn, wheat and soybeans, equipment maintenance, and fence building.

Those early lessons of personal responsibility, living within your means, and the importance of faith and community have made Wayne the man he is today - husband, father, surgeon, and combat decorated citizen soldier.

After high school, Wayne began an educational journey that would culminate with a masters degree in business administration, a masters degree in negotiations and a career as an orthopedic surgeon. To pay for his education, Wayne worked various jobs along the way including agricultural jobs, swim instructor, department of recreation, retail, restaurant, and research jobs, and as a citizen soldier with the U.S. Army Reserves.

In 2003, the U.S. Army Reserves called Wayne to serve his country in Operation Enduring Freedom in support of American and Coalition forces in Afghanistan. In his capacity as an orthopedic surgeon, Wayne served at Bagram Air Base and at Forward Operating Base Salerno as a member of the 946th Forward Surgical Team. In 2004 and 2005, Wayne would return to Afghanistan serving again at Bagram Air Base and also Forward Operating Base Ripley with the 933rd Forward Surgical Team and Kandahar Air Field at the 325th Field Hospital.

In 2005, Wayne was again called to serve his country this time in Iraq. He served with the 86th Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad, the 228th Combat Support Hospital in Mosul, and the 86th Combat Support Hospital at Talil Air Base.

As a member of the Georgia Army National Guard, Wayne was called to return to Iraq. In 2006 he served as a staff physician at Balad Air Base and in 2007 he served as an orthopedic surgeon and Deputy Commander for Clinical Services at Mosul Air Field.

Both the U.S. Army Reserves and the Georgia Army National Guard have recognized Wayne's service, commitment and dedication. He is the recipient of numerous awards including two Army Commendation Medals from the Army Reserves and a Bronze Star from the Georgia Army National Guard.

Wayne's commitment to his community has been evident throughout his career. He has served as team physician to various schools and colleges, a youth soccer coach, a mentor to young men, and a volunteer with the YMCA and Boys and Girls Club.

His career has been marked by his leadership skills in agriculture, healthcare and the military. His strong background and upbringing in an agricultural community give Wayne a unique understanding of the value our farmers to our community and the struggles they face. As a surgeon, Wayne understands that access to quality healthcare is important but will not and should not come from the federal government. And as a combat decorated citizen soldier, he knows first-hand the needs of our active duty military personnel and our veterans.

Wayne's most important accomplishment came in 1992 when he married his wife Jennifer. The couple lives in Vidalia with their 4 children: Joseph, Anna, Matthew and Eva. He is a member of the 2009 Coverdell Leadership Institute class and Chairman of the Georgia GOP State Veterans Committee. Wayne and his family are members of the Church of the Annunciation.
